Charm in a Vintage Style Kitchen

Vintage style kitchen towels are a cheerful addition to a kitchen. (You can see and buy these cute kitchen towels below) The sentimental sweetness of an old fashioned tea towel calls up memories of days gone by, a more innocent time. These reproductions of antique kitchen towels recall a time when mom prepared meals from scratch and when the kitchen was a gathering place for family and friends.

Many of us are turning to a simpler life style for both health and economic reasons. We can remember those old fashioned family values when we establish the habit of shared family meals at home, when the best times are spent in the kitchen enjoying all the warmth and comfort of home.

I own several vintage towels but don't want to use them - they are so special, and wear and tear would destroy them. So I like to find vintage reproductions for every day use.

Vintage kitchen towels come in country style plaid, simple stripes, and floral designs. some of these retro towels feature novelty prints of children or animals. Tea pots and coffee pots, sentimental or amusing sayings add a playful note to our routine kitchen chores.

Reproductions of these charming vintage towels make great Christmas gifts, or hostess gifts. You can use one of these attractive towels to gift wrap home made goodies like jars of jam and preserves, bagged Christmas cookies, or quick breads.

Retro Kitchen Towels with a Food Motif

Vintage kitchen towels often featured foods, especially fruits. Of course fruits are attractive as well as good for you. You can use these towels with the fruit design to gift wrap your home made jams and preserves. Just wrap them up and tie with a ribbon, or even a colorful string.

One of these towel sets is exactly like one that I have. But I never use mine as it's an original from the 1950's. Why wear out the old ones, when you can have attractive new towels?

Berries are a popular theme as are apples. These towels are so bright and colorful, they are sure to cheer up any kitchen with their whimsical retro print designs.

Kitchen Towels with Kitchen Items

<---- Pictured on the left

Printed coffee pots, tea pots, cups, and kitchen utensils bring back memories of those silly and adorable themed kitchen towels of the mid 20th century. There is something just so charming and innocent about these prints.

Use the towel printed with the glass jar to wrap up your preserves and jams for gift giving.

Towels that feature coffee pots, coffee cups, or tea cups make lovely additions to a gift basket full of coffee or tea.

Animal Themes on Kitchen Towels

These retro kitchen towels printed with an animal theme are so reminiscent of the mid 20th century. Some of the towels feature crochet edging, just like great grandmother used to make.

The single rooster towel is stamped with a picture for you to embroider, just like they did in the old days.

Roosters and hens are a popular decorative element in kitchens and you will find several such styles here.

Retro Kitchen Towels - Florals

The floral designs on the left make perfect gifts for gardeners! And who doesn't love flowers! Some of the towels come in sets with matching stripes.

Floral designs are sure to brighten up any day and look pretty for spring and summer use.

One set comes in the golden tones of autumn while another features pretty, red poinsettias to use around the Christmas holidays. The Christmas themed towels would be great for gift wrapping home made cookies.

Audrey - thank you. This is not one of my usual hubs, but I thought that I'd try out featuring more Amazon products. But the pictures are way to small to really see them.

KoffeeKlatchGals - thank you! I love vintage, maybe a bit too much. But vintage can be a great way to go green, if you are using the old stuff. Of course kitchen towels need to be replaced and we often need new ones. They can get messy.

Lovely, vintage stuff and so much of it. Thanks for some great ideas for christmas gifts Dolores.

BTW, one of the kitchen towels showing the farm is very similar to a coffee/tea set I own which I love.

I love the vintage towels look. They look great in my shabby chic home. These vintage towels are wonderful as Christmas gifts. As a matter of fact, I would love to get some vintage tea or kitchen towels myself.

Thank you for sharing this and I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas!

Hi, Sannel and Merry Christmas to you too! I love real vintage towels and have quite a few, but do not want to use them. So retro style towels work as a stand-in. Thank you!

I love the look of all the vintage photos your retro hubs include. There's something comforting about some of the patterns and colors. Thanks for this hub! Voted up and interesting.

Marcy - I should put up some more photos of my old towels. Some are kind of faded. I just picked up a few, hoping to use them to make a bag or something. They're not in the best shape so I thought wrecking them wouldn't matter. But can't bring myself to chop them up. Thank you!
